  Reopening of the British Embassy For Visa Customers.
The visa section will re-open to applicants on 4 August.
 
Due to significant backlog of applications, we expect long queues and will only be able to accept a limited number of applications each day for the next two weeks. To avoid lengthy waits, if you do not plan to travel in the next four weeks please apply nearer the time. We will ask evidence from applicants of their travel plans.
 
The British Embassy apologises for any inconvenience over the last three weeks. We continue to make every effort to deal with customers as quickly as possible.

Please note that from Monday 31 March 2008, the Visa Section of the British Embassy in Rabat will no longer be able to provide a same day service for any type of visa application. From this date, we will aim to deal with straightforward non-settlement visa applications within 24 hours.
 
  On Line Visa Applications
From 1 March the British Embassy will make applying for a visa for the United Kingdom simpler and faster by only accepting on-line visa applications through its award winningwww.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk service. With effect from 1 March 2008 the British Embassy in Rabat will only accept on-line visa applications for all categories of UK visas. For more details click Here

  Biometric Data
APPLYING FOR A UNITED KINGDOM VISA:  BIOMETRIC FINGERSCANS
 
The British Government is introducing biometric data collection (fingerscans) as part of a world-wide biometric identification process, designed to protect an individual’s identity, facilitate future entry to the UK, combat visa fraud and abuse of the UK’s immigration and asylum systems. With effect from Monday 20 November all visa applicants, irrespective of nationality, will have to apply in person at the British Embassy in Rabat and have their fingerscans taken.

Charles Gray

HM Ambassador in Morocco: Mr Charles Gray is team leader for the official British presence in Morocco. He is responsible for overseeing the work of the Embassy and the British Consulates in country, and for promoting British interests - including, vitally, commercial interests - across the board. This is his first ambassadorial assignment. He is also accredited to Mauritania. Charles, his wife Anne-Marie and their three sons, arrived in Rabat in August 2005.

A STEP FORWARD FOR UK-MOROCCO FILM MAKERS
 
British and Moroccan Ministers signed a new statement of intent aimed at creating better and stronger opportunities for film-makers from both countries. The deal includes tax incentives and the chance to improve co-production work. The film-makers in Britain and Morocco can look forward to taking greater advantage of what each country has to offer following an agreement signed on Monday 12 December 2005 in London.

  Introduction Of New Registration System For British Nationals
The Foreign and commonwealth Office is soon to introduce a new registration system for British nationals resident in and visiting countries overseas. British nationals resident in Rabat who are currently registered with the British Embassy in Rabat will be required to re-register. Details of the new system will be available shortly. You are advised to check this website regularly for information.
